§ 67-4. Police physician: examination of candidates and members of Department.

    The Public Safety Committee may appoint a physician who shall examine all candidates for appointment to the Police Department and members of the Police Department whenever required by the Public Safety Committee and shall examine all special policemen who are candidates for appointment. The physician shall make a written report to the Mayor and Council of the results of each examination, together with the physician's opinion of the physical fitness of the person examined.
    B. 
    New appointees to the Police Department must have passed a psychological examination approved by the Public Safety Committee no later than six months prior to appointment. The Chief of Police, with the consent of the Public Safety Committee, may refer any officer presently employed for a psychological examination to determine fitness for duty where it is believed that there is a reasonable basis for requiring same for the safety of the Borough and the Police Department.

    Police dispatchers shall not be required to satisfy the requirements of Subsection A of this section or Subsections E and G of § 67-5.
